Holiday outfits: the breastfeeding edit

breastfeeding holiday outfits 2

Holiday shopping is one of the fun bits about prepping for a break away – even if the packing isn’t so enjoyable. But, this year, I’m finding the search for holiday outfits extra tricky. As a breastfeeding mum I need to factor in boob access into any outfit I buy at the moment, which means many maxi dresses and the “in” jumpsuits of the season are out, for me.

If you’re in a similar predicament, I’ve put together a few ideas of essentials which could make the basis of a comfy, cool and stylish breastfeeding mama outfit this summer. All of the above picks come from House of Fraser’s kaftans and sarongs selection. Although the playsuit isn’t entirely breastfeeding-friendly, I reckon you’d be able to pull down one of the straps for fairly easy access.

Here are some other selections I’ve found on my internet travels…

The Hawaiian shirt comes from Topshop and the denim “boy” shorts are from Next. The midi shirt dress is from River Island – how chic are those stripes?! Plus, the buttons on the dress make for very easy boob access. Win.

I love this long kaftan from the Jane Norman range at House of Fraser. Thrown over the top of a bikini or swimming cozzie it would make a fantastic beach essential, and the low dipped neckline means it would be a great breastfeeding dress. The same is true of the black Biba kaftan, which also boasts a flattering nipped-in waist and plenty of loose drapes – perfect for this non-washboard stomach. I couldn’t resist including a pair of dungaree shorts. These are from Zara (reduced at the moment). Even without the buttons they’d be a good breastfeeding option because you can just pull the strap to one side, but the buttons mean it’s even easier to get access.

How about you – have you come across any great breastfeeding-friendly holiday outfit options recently?
