Sometimes you just need a change of scenery and a chance to stop for a while, you know? After the gloomy nature of my latest post, I’m pleased to say the October blues have lifted and I’m feeling more myself again. It’s largely down to a fantastic weekend which included a visit to The Eden Project in Cornwall.
After I wrote that grumpy post I worried a bit that people might assume I was battling some kind of severe unhappiness, which simply isn’t the case. The truth is, I’d had a bad couple of weeks, I was knackered and I needed to vent.
More than that though, I’ve always said I wouldn’t be true to myself if I didn’t show a balanced view of my life as a mum – and that involves showing the good AND the bad bits of motherhood. As a friend recently said to me – we all have crap days and it’s healthy and normal to be able to talk about those. No one walks around feeling #SoBlessed all the time. We’re only human, after all.
So anyway, now we’ve got that out of the way, it’s half term here (HURRAH!) which means the NLM’s at home and Frog’s off school. We celebrated the beginning of the holidays with a trip to The Eden Project to spend the day with my blogging buddy Adele from Beautiful Tribe and her family. It was a brilliant day, with loads going on (if you’re in the area over the week I highly recommend a visit to the Eden Project for their Halloweden event).
I vlogged about our weekend in my second ever Weekend Vlog. I’d like to make these a monthly thing and, as per my September plans, I’ve been true to my word and made quite a few videos since then. I’m really enjoying concentrating more on video and getting involved in YouTube – even though I still have a huge amount to learn with it all.
Here’s the video, if you fancy a watch. Personally, my favourite thing about this one is the NLM’s multiple (often quite grumpy) appearances. What do you think?!
Our plans for this week are pretty minimal. I have some big work things going on (exciting!) which is going to take up a bit of time, but we’re also hoping to get plenty of Halloween activities in, along with a Halloween party and some lazy days at home in our PJs. We all really need a rest after the hectic first half term back at school, and then the multiple bugs to hit the family over the past fortnight.
What are you up to? Anything exciting?
