When we moved to Devon two years ago we vowed to get organised. We were the type of people who put important documents in a “safe place” only to forget exactly where this was. Over the years we’ve lost car MOT documents, mislaid passports, forgotten where we’ve stored Frog’s birth certificate and, generally, been pretty shambolic at the very grown-up job of Being Organised and Not Losing Stuff. Moving to Devon seemed like as good time as any to start afresh and sort out our scatty ways.
These days we have a big grey filing cabinet (sexy, huh?) where we safely file away all our documents before smiling smugly and congratulating ourselves on finally becoming adults. Of course some things don’t ever make it to the filing cabinet, so perhaps we haven’t yet reached the pinnacle of grown-up organisation success. Still, at least we try.
If, like us, you sometimes struggle with the seemingly simple task of not losing stuff then you’ll be pleased to hear it’s no longer a huge deal if you lose your kid’s birth certificate. Thanks to Simply Certificate you can now order a replacement very easily.
Earlier this year we went through the process of applying for Baby Girl’s first UK passport – something you need a birth certificate for. If we’d lost her birth certificate then I would have loved to have known that we could order a new one speedily through Simply Certificate.
This website uses genealogical records to search for your record numbers, helping to get the right certificate faster from the archives. It means you could shave weeks off the wait for your replacement birth certificate and send that first UK passport application off all the quicker. (The only complication is that you can only get a replacement birth certificate from the September AFTER the child’s birth has been registered.)
Once you’ve got your birth certificate you can focus on the fun bit and get those first passport pictures taken. Is it just me that loves a baby mugshot?!
