With some fascinating countries and beautiful island locations to choose from, I can see why going on holiday to a Mediterranean destination is so popular.

If you were to offer me the chance of relaxing on a beach for days on end, occasionally having a quick dip in the sea and treating oneself to a bottle of wine while watching the sun go down, I would pack my suitcase and jump on a plane without hesitation.

Although typical locations like Spain, France, Italy or Greece immediately spring to mind, I never gave Malta much consideration. But following rave reviews from friends who recently visited this tiny island nestled in the heart of the Mediterranean, curiosity got the better of me. Continue reading »

A Worry-Free Old Age

I know I’m not alone in being nearly 30 but not yet having a pension. Our focus for the last couple of years has been saving the huge chunk of cash needed for a deposit on a house these days, so a pension hasn’t been top of my list. But now that we have that cash, my thoughts are turning to the future. It may be a long way off yet, but the thought of working this hard when I’m in my 70s doesn’t really appeal!

The working parent’s guide to looking good

One of the things I love about mainly working from home is the fact I can wear what I want. With no one to impress but myself (and my fashionista three year old) there’s no pressure to don heels or a pair of muffin-top inducing skinny jeans. That said, I do rather like nice clothes, so sometimes the act of getting dressed in something nice is one I quite miss.

Doesn’t stop me buying the odd treat though (hence this recent purchase – a bargain at £12 from Asda George *polishes fashion guru crown*).

And with that frivolous selfie, I’m welcoming the team from Alexandra Workwear to the blog today.

They know that returning to work after having children can often be difficult, especially if you want to look your best at the same time (seriously, getting out of the house is hard enough – let alone brushing your hair). That said, they also know from an employer’s point of view that it’s still important you don’t turn up to work with half-eaten bits of toast stuck to your front. Continue reading »
