Instagram post 2211170301379034861_27126085 Oh go on then. Ten years ago I was 3 months pregnant, sipping orange juice at a cricket club NYE bash up north while my tipsy boyfriend was (unknown to me) preparing to propose at midnight. And here we are a decade on with the baby who was in my tummy on that day, and another little sister to boot. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Many lessons have been learned in this decade. Many ups and downs, tears and laughter. Many friendships made - not least of all the friendship with myself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Here’s to a new decade of messing up, learning, growing and LIVING. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I can’t wait 🎉

Instagram post 2210518679560873632_27126085 I struggle with these end of year posts. On the one hand I think it’s important to celebrate all that you’ve done. But I also know that in the past, as someone reading these posts, it could trigger huge comparison syndrome and make me feel like my own achievements weren’t enough. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And while I’ve had an incredible year, there’s also a LOT I still want to achieve, and it’s typical of me to focus on what I haven’t done yet instead of looking at what I have done 😂
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Instead, I’d like to show some of the other side that doesn’t get talked about on social media. To show you that while 2019 has been MEGA it has come at a cost - and for every success there are fails, disappointments, and hours of hard graft behind the scenes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’ve done a fair bit of telly this year. Naked Beach was amazing (it’s back in Jan! 🎉), I did 4 live TV slots (BBC Breakfast x2, This Morning, Sky Sunrise), lots of radio. Chaired panels, talked on panels, hosted my first events, launched a hit podcast, launched an important campaign, signed to a talent agency, worked with some amazing brands, travelled to some gorgeous new places. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
BUT.... I’ve also gone months without a pay cheque, while still working 50 hour weeks. It’s been scary and anxiety inducing and demoralising. There’ve been some situations where I’ve felt taken advantage of and let down - in some cases by people I genuinely like and admire. Some people who I thought might support me and cheered me on, haven’t. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Projects and campaigns I’ve poured my heart and soul into, have come at a cost. I’ve missed many family days out and bedtimes.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m not posting this for sympathy - I’m very lucky to feel passionate about what I do. It’s more as balance really, to show that you don’t always know the full story behind every photo. And you don’t always see the hard work, sacrifice, failure and disappointment behind the success. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I have big hopes and dreams for 2020. But for now, happy new year. It’s an achievement just to have survived ❤️🎉
Instagram post 2209460819686925821_27126085 Up north visiting the in-laws’ new crib. Ending the decade getting to know a new place feels like a fitting way to say goodbye to 2019. Where one adventure ends a new one begins etc. PS. Spot the one person in this photo who can’t quite nail the art of the smouldering candid pose 😂 #NotAModel #MyKidsAreMoreFashunThanMe
Instagram post 2208091618732753551_27126085 Consider this your antidote to the post-Christmas, pre-New Year resolution diet culture barrage. The leaflets through the doors telling you to join your local slimming club. The influencers sharing recipes for detox smoothies guaranteed to shift the pounds. The before and after photos. The ads telling you to “cleanse” after they merrily told you to “indulge” just two days before.
Your worth isn’t defined by the shape of your body. You can live a full, happy and satisfying life and make a difference to the world in 2020 without changing your body.
Ask yourself who profits from any feelings that tell you otherwise... because I’d put money on the fact it isn’t you.
If you need a boost go and check out some of the posts I’ve linked to in Stories. Listen to @bodyconspodcast. Watch Naked Beach on All4 (new episodes coming in January 🎉). Read some glorious body happy books - Just Eat It by @laurathomasphd , Train Happy by @tallyrye , Body Positive Power by @bodyposipanda to name just a few. Check out the resources page on the #FreeFromDiets website.

Curate your feed. Protect your mind. Be as good and kind and gentle to yourself as you are to other people.
And remember: YOU ARE LOVELY JUST AS YOU ARE. ❤️ #ditchthediet #bodyhappymum #bodyimage #selflovematters
Instagram post 2207304092329800225_27126085 Woman, 36, missing in action after going into kitchen to cook Boxing Day breakfast. “She was only in there a minute,” says husband. “I heard a scream - something about ‘What are all these toys doing in here?’ - and then nothing...”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Shout out to all the parents picking their way through the house trying to avoid injury, navigating piles of toys and wrapping paper and tubs of sweets and discarded biscuits. I see you. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
And if anyone knows why my children have chosen to set up a toy protest barricade in my kitchen please let me know the best way to mediate and end deadlock. I might be here a while. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Instagram post 2206610841515899441_27126085 Christmas Day: the one day of the year I’m dressed to go out out by 7am, despite having no plans to leave the house. And back in my PJs by lunchtime. Merry Christmas everyone, whatever you’re up to. I’m off to prep my sprouts in my extra outfit 🎉💥🔥 (Swipe for the non extra me at 5am when we were woken up to squeals of “HE’S BEEN! HE’S BEEEEEEEN!” 🤣) 🎄🥂🎉🎅🏻 #ootd #wiwt #dresslikeamum #whatmamawore #hohoho
