Remember holidays pre-kids and pre-corona when you Remember holidays pre-kids and pre-corona when you’d spend a week of delicious anticipation doing nothing but checking the long-range forecast on accuweather, getting your nails done, exfoliating and browsing bikinis? Me neither 🙃
.
I’ve got more than a week off for the first time in 3 years and this holiday has been booked since 2019. We were going to cancel but realised we’d lose all our money so decided to shoot for it.
.
The last month has involved trips to Newport for emergency passports, vaccinations, an intense amount of Googling and looking at the gov.uk website. Currently oscillating between a state of sky high anxiety and cautious excitement. My poor old nervous system’s taken a right hammering. Hoping beyond hope everything has come together and it all goes OK. Wish us luck! 🏕🛳🤞☀️
.
(Also, want to say I know how privileged we are to even consider a holiday, and I recognise everyone’s own circumstances are vastly different, both with what they’re able to do and what they feel comfortable doing. So whatever situation you’re in right now, I am sending you love and hope that you have moments of joy this summer.)

.
It’s an entry point to the subject of body image and kids. An accessible introduction and chance to ask questions in real time.
.
This is a great one if you’ve not got the #BodyHappyKids book, want a refresher after reading the book or haven’t yet got the time or resources to sign up to our Online Masterclass or one of our CPD workshops.
.
Tickets cost £7.99 and include the talk, a recording of the talk so you can watch it on play-back for one month, along with some other additional free resources (swipe ➡️)

According to reports the government will properly According to reports the government will properly launch this campaign in January, to coincide perfectly with the “new year new me” personal responsibility diet culture health rhetoric.
.
It’s like they read the Women & Equalities Commission report recommendations into body image earlier this year, shrugged their shoulders and said “I know what, let’s do the exact opposite!” 😞
.
There are many reasons why families may not exercise as much and may eat less fresh produce - living on a low income being one of them. But then we’d have to acknowledge the devastating impact of austerity policies on health in this country which would be a political no no for the people currently in charge.

Eating veg is good for you. Sleep is good for you. Know what else is good for you? Equitable health care, not being discriminated against and being treated like a human. All things routinely denied to fat people.”]

It gives me such joy to see my book out in the world, particularly as I still haven’t been able to see it in a physical bookshop, so THANK YOU for tagging me in your pictures. Every single review and share is a nail in the coffin for diet culture round kids and this makes me so bloody happy 🥰🥰🥰

Anyone else absolutely KNACKERED down to their bones at the moment? This was a pic from before it was hotter than the sun and a bubble bath was actually inviting. Not in shot: middle of the night anxiety attacks, stress tears and general angst.

(Resisting the urge to justify WHY I’m so tired and fall into the toxic trap of burnout glorification / hustle culture validation that would see us as having to earn time off with a pound of flesh and a side order of mental health crises caused by overwork. Suffice to say, I am well ready for a break soon. You?)
