Vlogged: Halloween fun with #CarveAHeart

Carve a heart

It’s been a really busy week for us. We’ve been on a 300 mile road trip around the country visiting family for half term. Yesterday was all about a recovery day at home, celebrating Halloween a day early with some quiet pumpkin carving, a bit of a disco in the living room and a special Halloween tea. It’s not ground-breaking cinematography but I wanted to capture some of the day on camera as sometimes it’s the least adventurous days which are the sweetest.

As you can see from the video, we’re joining in with World Vision’s #CarveAHeart campaign this year, carving a heart into our pumpkin and texting the word HEART to 70060 to donate £5 to the charity to help them help children around the world who are living in fear.

Pumpkin

Our pumpkin isn’t going to win any awards for Pumpkin Of The Year, but we had fun doing it and the lit pumpkins certainly added to a sense of atmosphere once it got dark.

Halloween always causes a bit of a divide in our house. The NLM is massively anti-Halloween and has been in a grump since this time yesterday. I’m the opposite though, and this is the one time of year I wouldn’t mind living in America! I love traditions and the excitement of dressing up, not to mention all the “organised fun” things which make my husband’s skin crawl. So far it looks like our kids are on my side with this one, and Frog has fully embraced the fun, dressing up as a witch for two days straight.

Hope you have a great day whatever you’re up to. And if you decide to do a pumpkin, don’t forget to share a photo of it with the hash tag #CarveAHeart, and text HEART to 70060.

Happy Halloween!
