A snapshot of Christmas

And just like that it’s over. Well, kind of. I like to stretch Christmas out for as long as possible so, for us, it’s still Christmas until Friday at least. I have no urge to take down the tree or clear away the toys just yet.

This year Christmas Day was even more special. Mainly because of the addition of a new member of the family. As I was laying out presents under the tree on Christmas Eve it hit me with one of those BOOM moments that this would be a memory I’d never forget. These Christmases while the girls are still small are ones to treasure. I had looked forward to Christmas Day with such excitement and it didn’t let us down.

Christmas dresses

Sparkly dresses courtesy of northern Grandma and matching (handmade) Elsa dresses courtesy of my mum meant both girls were dressed up to the nines. We spent Christmas Day just the four of us, at home. Eating far too much food, opening presents and (the adults) drinking fizz. Perfect.

Christmas girls 2014

Frog stayed up until 10.30pm that night. She was beautiful – happily playing with her toys and pottering around in her new “clip-clop shoes”. I ate cheese – SO much cheese – and cuddled a sleeping baby. We watched Christmas TV and listened to Christmas music. Even the cooking of the Christmas dinner was a laid back affair.

Aww that sounds wonderful! There’s something really lovely about the first Christmas with the newest addition to the family isn’t there; somehow seeing presents with their name on and their bauble on the tree makes it really truly real, that this is now our family :)

Ah it sounds like an amazing Xmas! Ours was pretty average! And I took the tree down on Boxing Day, not sure what it was but I really wasn’t feeling it this year. I definitely need to get Matt into some Xmas traditions, he doesn’t like champagne or smoked salmon and has never played monopoly!! Next year will be better ;) x
