A letter from a very fat woman to a very tiny person

I’ve been pondering all day whether to put this on the blog. And then I remembered that I shared my pants wetting incident with you. Not to mention the time I was found naked by a bunch of fireman. Oh yes, and the time I farted at boot camp.

So I suppose I’ve got nothing left to hide.

Here it is then. The letter I wrote almost a year ago, as I was going out of my mind with boredom waiting for Frog to hurry up and be born. I really should have started this blog much sooner. Continue reading »

The clap

No, before you ask, I haven’t got a bad case of Gonorrhea. This post is all about the action of clapping. You know the one – where you bring your hands together to make a noise, to illustrate your appreciation of something.

Except that isn’t the only type of clapping there is, not when you’re a baby anyway.

Recently I shared our long and arduous journey to clapping. It involved me putting on various Take That themed shows in a desperate attempt to illicit a round of applause from my 10 month old daughter. She ignored me until I basically mooned her, at which point she burst into fits of laughter punctuated by perfectly formed claps. Continue reading »

One month today, I won’t have a baby anymore.

One month today, my baby will be a little girl. A one-year-old. Big. Not a baby.

Every moment I look at her she’s changed – a new laugh, new scream, new babble. Continue reading »

After having a baby I’ve been utterly shocked to find I haven’t suddenly developed a new skill for craft activities.

Despite my best efforts to learn to knit, sew and make beautifully arty creations out of an old slipper and a rusty nail, I’m constantly indignant at my lack of crafting ability. Yes it’s fair to say, I’m rubbish at making things. Continue reading »

For anyone who has been unlucky enough to be near me for the past six months, I’m sorry.

Because I’ve been like a stuck record. I’ve been all “I want a mortgage” and “we have to move so we can afford a house” and “we’ll NEVER be able to buy – a 25 percent deposit is out of the question!”

Yes, boring indeed. Continue reading »

It’s funny how having a baby can raise your shame levels to new heights.

After flashing my bits to a complete stranger during childbirth and exposing my naked breasts while breastfeeding in the fruit and veg section of the local supermarket, it takes a lot to make me cringe nowadays.

But there is still something that never fails to turn my cheeks deep crimson. And now,  because I’m a woman of my word, I will share the whole thing with you. Continue reading »

I know Real Nappy Week isn’t over yet and so this celebration may be a bit premature. But I’m going to live dangerously.

We’ve got to day 6 of Real Nappy Week with no spillages, no poo on carpets and no fuss. I can’t believe how easy it’s been. Seriously.

When Bambino Mio asked me to take up the Real Nappy Challenge and swap a disposable for a reusable every day for a week, I wasn’t convinced. But after realising the wine budget was being spent on nappies, I thought I’d give it a go. I really like wine, see. Continue reading »
