Korean dramas or K-dramas have been a big part of many people’s lives, especially if you’ve been in the Boys Over Flowers, Coffee Prince, My Jewel in Palace, My Girl, My Name Is Kim Sam Soon, and many more. As someone who has been watching a lot of K-dramas growing up, I’ve seen a lot of hit-and-miss, and that’s totally normal. Some are so good that you’d want to re-watch them over and over again, while the others are just… meh.

Here, I’ll be sharing the best K-drama of all time that is best binge-watched with your friends. Most of these K-dramas can be watched on most streaming platforms including Netflix, Viu, DISH TV, Disney+, DIRECTV, and many more. Let’s start!

1. Boys Over Flowers

Episodes: 25

Boys Over Flowers is the first K-drama I’ve ever watched, and I’m happy that it was because it encouraged me to watch other dramas after that. This drama is about a working-class girl named Geum Jan-di who ends up at Shinhwa High School, a prestigious school filled with rich kids after she stands up to the leader of F4, a.k.a. the richest, coolest, and great-looking boys.

She gets a scholarship and starts going to the school, where she deals with drama, romance, and growing up. Ahhh, I get giddy whenever I remember Gu Jun-pyo (even though my heart is with So Yi-jeong).

2. Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

Episodes: 16

If you’re looking for a lighthearted K-drama, you can’t go wrong with Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. It’s a feel-good K-drama about Kim Bok-joo who lifts weights at a sports college. She’s not your average girl as she’s tough, she eats a lot, and dreams of winning big in weightlifting.

Then she meets Jung Joon-hyung, a playful swimmer who’s her old childhood friend. They tease each other a lot, but soon their friendship turns into something more. It’s literally the kind of show where you can just relax and giggle while eating fried chicken.

3. Descendants of the Sun

Episodes: 16

Descendants of the Sun is literally one of my favorite K-dramas. I re-watched this K-drama so many times because it’s just that good. Plus, the Song-Song couple is just irresistible even though they’ve broken up in real life.

The drama is about a doctor and a soldier who crossed paths in such crazy situations – earthquakes, war zones, and everything in between. They flirt, fight, and fall in love with doing their jobs, and it’s just so good to watch. Add to that the appeal of both

4. Reply 1988

Episodes: 20

If you’re into dramas about friendship, well, considering you’re watching this with your friends, Reply 1988 would be your best choice. It’s about five friends living in a small neighborhood in Seoul back in 1988. They treat each other like family as they grow up together. The story itself is so relatable.

It’s cozy and will leave you smiling as you watch. It has 20 episodes, so that’s longer than a typical K-drama series, but trust me when I say that every episode is worth the time. You might even shed a tear or two… beware.

Final Thoughts

This list is a bit toned down as there are lots of K-dramas out there. I just listed my top 4 as I think, if you’re just starting out on K-dramas and you watched any of these, you will be hooked to watch more K-dramas.

That’s what happened to me at least. I hope you give these a try and let me know what you think. Happy watching!
