Beach totI wonder what she’s thinking, my three year old girl, as she wanders alone on the beach.

Tootling off far from me, she chooses her own path, splashing in puddles of sea water gathering in the sand. On the wind, I catch her humming a vague tune all her own.

And then it catches me. That twinge of guilt. Is she lonely?  Continue reading »

Tea time“It’s a MOUNTAIN Mummy! Look!” squealed my three year old with excitement, pointing. “Look! Mountain mountain mountain!”

I squinted in the general direction she was pointing, desperately trying to seek out the mountain she was so eager to show me.

Nothing.

“There’s no mountain poppet, just a lot of trees and some water,” breaking the news gently. Panicking now, she started jumping up and down. “No Mummy! Look! A MOUNTAIN!” Continue reading »

Commissioned post

We’re off to Spain in September and I’m attempting to be a bit more prepared about packing than I was the last time we went away. No last minute rushing to the shops for suncream and insect repellent for me, oh no…

There are a few things in my holiday bag already actually, courtesy of Luxe BC and the suncream from Nuage range. Continue reading »

Commissioned post

By the time this year is out, we’ll have attended five weddings. Five whole weddings.

Because I don’t much get the opportunity to dress up these days (being a parent can do that) one of the things I love most about a wedding is the opportunity to put on something pretty. Continue reading »

Mothers-Always-Right-baby-pic

There was a time when the thought of picking out a lunch bag for my little girl would have been unimaginable.

But now, as we hurtle towards my three year old’s first term at Pre-School, it feels like very much of a reality. Continue reading »

Commissioned post

I’d like to tell you a secret. It’s not something many people know. And it’s not something I’m proud of.

Ready?

*deep breath*

I haven’t been measured for a bra since I was pregnant. Continue reading »

Flip-flops you can walk in

flip-flops

I am a flip-flop fan and I’m not ashamed to admit it.

I love nothing more than getting my (occasionally hairy) toes out and letting my feet take in the fresh air. Summer is my favourite season for shoes because, as much as I love boots and converse hi-tops, I am a flip-flop girl at heart.

I remember the first time I realised I could walk in flip-flops properly. It was a holiday to France and I had discovered a pair that didn’t rub or make my toes bleed. Finally I understood what it felt like to wear a pair of shoes that screamed “HOLIDAY”. I had arrived. Continue reading »

Fast Rabbit Garden lake

Do you ever feel like you need to turn down the noise?

Yesterday was one of those days. As my To Do list reverberated around my head, pestering me with taunts of jobs and tasks that I barely had time to complete, I managed to forget about it all for a while as I visited a pretty special place.

Nestled down a narrow country lane near Dartmouth, The Fast Rabbit Farm Gardens lie waiting to be discovered.

Devon, Home, relocation

Devon

A few days ago I had a wobble.

I worried that we’d uprooted our three year old from everything she knew and that she wasn’t happy. I over-thought everything and, rather than just cracking on with the business in hand of settling in, I panicked.

Tantrums are exhausting, but tantrums every ten minutes are MIND BLOWINGLY exhausting. I was tired, unsettled, still living amongst boxes and not entirely sure we’d done the right thing by moving 200 miles from Berkshire to South Devon.  Continue reading »

This post is written in association with Best Gift Company…

The first Christmas I ever spent with the (self-proclaimed) Northern Love Machine, he bought me a watch.

It was a very pretty watch and it served me well. Until the battery died and I never got round to fixing it, that is. Continue reading »
